After years of effort by many, the General Assembly passed RI’s first comprehensive invasive plant law. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this happen. Before the law can come into full force, RIDEM needs to create invasive criteria, recognize a list of invasive plants, and finalize regulations. The spring 2026 issue of our bulletin, the Rhode Island Naturalist, has been added to the website. Members receive the Rhode Island Naturalist first, but all back issues are available for free download here.

Thank you, BioBlitzers! 295 volunteer scientists attended the 27th RI BioBlitz, in Kingston, and found 1,095 species. Stay tuned to see how the species count changes as we get in final species lists from the specialists.
