Rhode Island Nature Video Festival

The 2027 Rhode Island Nature Video Festival will be LIVE in February at Rhode Island College, part of their Winter Festival, and we are now accepting video submissions.

This tenth annual festival will be hosted LIVE at Rhode Island College (RIC) on a Saturday in February in conjunction with RIC’s Winter Festival, exact date still TBD (snow date the next day).

All styles of nature video are welcome, from a single encounter discovery to experimental camera techniques to edited and narrated storytelling and documentary. All amateurs and professionals are invited, and new submitters are especially encouraged!

Rhode Island has a great abundance of nature in our lands and waters and cities. Most people carry a camera every day that can capture remarkably good video. Let videography improve your powers of observation . . . what are folks seeing “out there?” How can video improve science communication? This is a perfect opportunity to get started sharing your videos with a wider audience. We especially encourage youth to send in videos and we will work with youth-oriented organizations to help make that happen.

Show Reel selected by a jury, good exposure for up-and-coming video makers, cash prizes for the Peoples’ Choice Awards. Vote for your favorite for the Peoples’ Choice. Find out who wears the best dress or who will win the coveted Clam d’Or ?! Over one thousand people watch the Show Reel LIVE or ONLINE on the Survey’s YouTube channel.

The RI Nature Video Festival is organized and curated by the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, the Rhode Island College Environmental Club, and the Friends of the Moshassuck.
